Romani Yag Benefit Show

Here we are, at last year's Romani Yag Festival...

This Tuesday, October 3rd, there will be a benefit show at Le Divan Orange (www.ledivanorange.org) for the Romani Yag Gypsy Festival. This festival is the first event of its kind in Quebec. “Romani Yag,” or “Gypsy Fire,” is a unique chance to discover Romani (Gypsy) culture.

There will be three groups playing:
-Caravan
-Les Imposteurs
-Les Gitans de Sarajevo

This fundraiser is to help secure the second edition of the Romani Yag Gypsy Festival
in the Fall of 2007, and a special Romani Yag event in May 2007. Show starts at 8pm. Check out the web site for more information: www.romaniyag.com

Fall: Upcoming shows

Here's a few projects/shows I'll be partaking in this fall...

Les Gitans de Sarajevo will release their long awaited fourth album this fall, titled "OPA!". Although there isn't an official release date yet, we will be selling CDs off the stage from October on. In my opinion, this is the best album yet...so keep your ears & eyes open!

-September 16th : somewhere in Brossard...eastern european style...
-September 30th : Les Bobards (www.lesbobards.qc.ca), Montréal,Québec
-October 3rd: Romani Yag Fundraiser event, Le Divan Orange, Montréal, QC
-October 5th - 8th : ECCE MUNDO in Chicoutimi, Québec
-October 28th : Café Lavatière, Joliette, Québec

The Rembetika Hipsters will be swinging out east, beyond Montréal into the maritime provinces...These guys may be based in Calgary, Alberta, but even the greeks from Anatoli's on Skopelos Island where blown away when they heard us play the true greek blues: Rembetika music.

-October 19th : Halifax Pop Explosion
-October 20th : The Capitol Theatre, Moncton, New Brunswick

There's a fresh new group taking shape in the form of "N'Hommad". Band leader, Minah, is seen here minutes before the debut show we played last thursday @ Les Bobards. Come check N'Hommad out at La Kémia (4115, rue St-Denis, Mtl) on September 29th. Show starts at 8pm.
